Method, device, and database for providing communication addresses for communication devices

Abstract

The present invention includes a method, device, and database for providing communication addresses for communication devices. In one form, a method for providing a communication address for establishing communication with a communication device is disclosed. The method includes receiving an input character associated with a selectable communication address and determining a communication address reference based upon a communication criteria associated with the input character. The communication device may then display a communication address reference within a user interface in response to determining a communication address.

Variable length coding for sparse coefficients

Abstract

Coding quantized transform coefficients as occur in image compression includes, for a subset of coefficient amplitude values coding by a first method corresponding to each amplitude of the subset, events of a run of zero or more zero-valued coefficients ending in the single non-zero amplitude, coding by a second method events of a run of zero or more zero-valued coefficients ending in any single non-zero amplitude not in the subset, and coding by a third method the amplitude values of the concatenation of the non-zero amplitude not in the subset. The coding methods produce variable length codewords. The method is suitable for series that have scattered non-zero-valued coefficients.

Delivery of services to a network enabled telephony device based on transfer of selected model view controller objects to reachable network nodes

Abstract

Advanced communication services are deployed for a user device, such as a VoIP telephony device, based on utilizing a model view controller architecture within a network system (e.g., a VoIP system) configured for communication with the VoIP telephony device. The VoIP telephony device and a service node of the VoIP system each are configured for executing at least one corresponding model object, view object, and controller object of a prescribed network service. The model object, view object, and controller object each are configured for utilizing transaction-based messages associated with the prescribed network service. Moreover, the service node is configured for selectively transferring any one of the model object, view object, and the controller object to another node, for example the VoIP telephony device or another network node, and terminating execution of the transferred object, without interruption in service for the user.

Arrangement for retrieving recorded audio announcements from a messaging system for identification of a calling party

Abstract

An IP-based subscriber endpoint, for example a VoIP telephony device or an IP telephony user agent, is configured for retrieving recorded audio caller information in response to receiving an incoming call that includes a calling party identifier. The IP-based subscriber endpoint, in response to receiving the calling party identifier, generates an IP-based query via an IP network to an identifiable server for identification of a source of the recorded audio caller information corresponding to the calling party identifier. The IP-based subscriber endpoint outputs a request to the source of the recorded audio caller information, and plays the recorded audio caller information in response to reception via the IP-based network. Hence, the IP-based subscriber endpoint is able to retrieve existing recorded audio caller information from servers configured for storing recorded names, eliminating the necessity for text to speech resources.
